This is a mixed use mill conversion and new build project in the heart of the Compstall conservation area between Stockport and Manchester for ASK Property Developments. The site contains a range of significant cotton mill buildings, overlooks the Pennine foothills, a large reservoir within the Etherow Country Park and is adjacent to the River Etherow. The site forms the heart of the Compstall Conservation Area and is entirely located within the designated green belt.
The mill and surrounding buildings date from 1820 and have been described as a 'remarkably uncompromised example of a complete rural industrial settlement developed by a single paternalistic employer'. Our design responds to the strong industrial buildings and landscape features on this historically sensitive site and our Masterplan vision proposes a mix of new build and creative re-use schemes. The project includes residential, employment and retail uses, together with improved facilities for local people and visitors to the Country Park. |
